Strive for Less Than 5
Every day counts. Join us in helping to reduce the number of student absences by striving for less than five excused or unexcused absences in a school year.
The first bell rings at 6:55 A.M. School begins at 7:00 A.M. Students arriving after 7:00 AM will be marked tardy. Tardies are excused when accompanied by a note from a doctor’s appointment or law enforcement related meeting. All students are expected to be in attendance each day unless they are ill or a family emergency arises. Tardiness and early check-outs interrupt instructional time. Scheduling appointments after school hours allows students the optimum amount of time for instruction and guided practice. Student parking privileges may be affected due to lack of attendance. The school day ends at 2:00 PM.
During the first week of school, your child will be bringing home emergency information forms for you to complete and return. Having this information returned promptly and correctly is of the utmost importance. A record of this information is kept in the main office. Please notify the school if you change address, telephone numbers, or the persons allowed to check-out your child. Only the people whose names appear on the emergency card will be allowed to check students out of school. Picture identification will be required.
Students are more likely to benefit from the academic program offered by a school if they attend school regularly. Daily school and class attendance not only improve academic performance but help students develop social skills necessary to become productive citizens in their community. Successful schools begin by engaging students and making sure they come to school regularly. They work cooperatively with students and parents to make coming to school a positive experience for the student.
Parents are responsible for student attendance as defined by Florida’s Compulsory School Attendance laws (F.S. 1003.24 and F.S. 1003.21).
